A blatant attempt to demonize Hinduism is made in this article suggesting that ancient Hindu scriptures classify Dalits as the lowest of the low, implying that they are not even worthy to be part of the anyway oppressive caste system. The word "Dalit" itself is a very recent term coined in the 20th century and while the treatment of peoples as such is unfortunate, it is a social problem and not one in any way that can be linked to Hindu texts which talk of varna which is very different from the modern view of the caste system.
